Welcome to the UK Firework Safety Pages

These pages give safety information for users of retail fireworks available to the General Public in the UK. All fireworks available to the General Public should comply with The British Standard for Fireworks (BS 7114) which details the construction and effect of a wide variety of firework types, as well as setting out the test methods for fireworks available to the General Public.

A safe and enjoyable firework display starts with planning. We hope that these pages will help you decide which fireworks you need for your display, and how to get the most from those fireworks. When buying your fireworks the first things to consider are the following

How much room do you have for the fireworks - do you require Garden or Display Fireworks?
British Standard for Fireworks
What types of fireworks do you want - Noisy, Pretty, Aerial or mainly ground based?
What types of Fireworks are there
Where should I get my fireworks?
Always choose a supplier who is a member of the British Pyrotechnists Association (BPA) or the Explosives Industry Group (EIG) of the CBI
